Namiri Plains

Deep in the remote eastern Serengeti, Namiri Plains is a luxury tented camp set in legendary big-cat country. Its name means ‘big cat’ in Swahili, and the plains were closed to visitors for twenty years to let cheetah populations recover. Today, eleven elegant tented suites, including a family suite, feature sliding doors, expansive viewing decks and standalone outdoor bathtubs, their walls built from solidified volcanic ash for natural insulation. More than an hour from any other camp, Namiri offers extraordinary solitude and some of East Africa’s finest cheetah, lion, serval and caracal sightings.
